Brogan Video November 2025 Newsletter

Every time I sit down and meet a new client, I make sure to set the time to have
a nice, in -depth conversation with them, to figure out everything about their
business that I need to know. That means their motivation for the video, who exactly
their target market is, what their goals are, what their scruples are, and what
their style is, because you just cannot serve a company unless you really know what
they’re looking for and who they are. And if a video doesn’t reflect that,
I’m not doing my job. Thank you for watching. I’m Michael Bruner of Brogan Video,
and this is Brogan Video’s November newsletter.
I really love that a lot of social media channels are getting into interviewing
people, whether it be people at their businesses or even people at the street. It’s
fun. It’s exhilarating. But the one thing that I would advise them to do is when
you’re talking to someone when you’re interviewing them there’s usually one burning
question that you’re dying to get to be it how do you feel about this company or
what you’re doing today whatever it is never ask that question first always ask a
few simple questions just to get them used to the back and forth get them used to
using their voice get them used to the idea that you’re not going to interrupt
them. You’re going to let them talk. You want to hear what they have to say. Ask
a couple of nice questions, get a little background. Then if you can, ask your one
golden question and include a few details that you already picked up from them so
it really feels like a personal question. Then you get gold.
I’ve been working with a group called the Gratitude Network for about eight years
now. They are an incredible organization that helps nonprofits all around the world
hit their goals. And I do mean all around the world. One of their members is Randy
Haken. And he’s currently going around Southeast Asia interviewing many of these
amazing people in nonprofits, figuring out exactly what they do and meeting them in
their home countries and seeing firsthand what they do. It’s incredible. He’s using
video as he’s going to advertise the process and to show people what he’s doing as
he’s going. It’s an incredible project, an incredible journey. And to be able to
bring people into that with you, to show them all where you’re traveling and who
you’re talking to, that is powerful. And it’s a great way to build an audience for
when the final videos start coming out. You get to see what he’s up to.
One growing trend in video that I’m very happy to see is the growing acceptance of
captions. A lot of times they’re used on platforms so that people can read what
you’re talking about without having to turn on the sound, but it allows for a lot
more accessibility to people who don’t speak English very well and can more easily
read it, to people who are hard of hearing, and captions are something that honestly
should have been part of video and YouTube and advertising from the very beginning.
It’s on TV. It should be a standard quality of the video that we produce.
So make sure to put
all the details that go into, really finessing a great product.
But no matter how good the camera is, no matter how much work you put into it,
it’s not the camera that is really going to make people love it. It is the heart.
It’s always going to be the heart. So make sure that you’re using the camera
correctly, make sure that when you’re on camera,
you’re always using your heart. You’re always putting it out there exactly who you
are, why you’re doing this work, why you’re passionate about it. That’s what makes
people love it. Thank you so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed this on Michael
Bruner of Brogan video. I hope you have a wonderful November. Happy Thanksgiving.

Spread the love
